It has begun Y2J is Back

Last night on Raw (2-01-2012), we finally got the answer to the question "Who is behind the 'It Begins' video vignettes?"
As most of us expected, Chris Jericho was unveiled before the rather un-enthused Memphis crowd, showing a huge smile and begging for more audience cheers as he ran around the ring, slapping hands with the fans and soaking up the moment as it has been nearly a year and a half since his last appearance in the WWE.
Lucky for us, the fans, it was Jericho that was revealed, rather than it being just another Undertaker return promotion, which would have struck a nerve in many a fan.
Now, we can look forward to amazing promos being cut as well as great technical wrestling to energize the rest of the company as we push forward to one of the most anticipated WrestleManias in years.
One thing that really stuck out during his time around the ring was the fact that Jericho didn't say a single word.
No "Welcome to Raw is Jericho," not even a "Look who's back in town." Nothing.
While we could easily chalk this up to Jericho just wanting all of us to know that he's back rather than gloating about the past or bragging about what he plans to do in the future, one can't help but think about what underlying meaning there is with him not speaking to the crowd.
Jericho is one of the best talkers in the history of professional wrestling.  If CM Punk could be a motivational speaker, Jericho would be the guy that Punk has write his speeches for him. That being said, there has to be some explanation of the abrupt end to Jericho's return.
Obviously, we are all looking forward to what Jericho's return means for the rest of the roster.  Here, we have another high profile, proven veteran to help usher in the new generation of superstars.  We have a man who has established himself as a beloved star based on his own talents and hard work.  We have someone that everybody in the locker room can look up to and learn from.
It's already been rumored the Jericho is headed for a WWE Championship match with Punk at WrestleMania.  If this is true, we as fans are in for an epic treat that only the WWE can give us.
Amazing promo work and excellent wrestling styles from two proven vets has the makings for one great match.
Also, if that rumored match with Punk is true, than having Jericho cut a promo right away wouldn't do a whole lot to help set up the match.
It's early January.  The Royal Rumble isn't until the end of January, meaning Jericho has plenty of time to let everybody know exactly why he has decided to return when he did.  Take that point and couple it with the fact that Punk has more than he can handle with Dolph Ziggler and John Laryngitis constantly up in his business, adding Jericho to the mix right away would only take away from the great wrestling Ziggler and Punk have proven they can put on together, cluttering up the mess.
To that point, this is Ziggler's big break when it comes to pushing him to permanent main event status. By adding Jericho in to distract Punk would take away from the push and cause him to be just another mid-carder who won't be given his chance to shine just yet.
Chris Jericho returning last night was a great moment.  You could see how genuinely happy he was to be back, which made the moment that much more special.
It may not have been the way we all wanted him to come back, but for now, it was just right.
